There is no invitation to become friends on one of my account, perhaps because of the long Battle-tag to 18 characters, or a problem in something else?

battle-tags are a max of 16 characters. if you somehow got one longer... grats. it's invalid.

looking through the code, i am not trimming the btag... but a btag that is too long could easily push the message beyond its max size. considering the characters are cyrillic, it would have to use unicode to pass the data... which could easily exceed the msg cap (it must do that normally to pass messages)

does the 'wait list' button turn to 'pending'?
when they hit 'invite', does your 'pending' button change?
