did you open your gear window or did this just happen after you killed someone?

No, it just popped up after the kill.

is that 1.8.5?  very strange to pop up without the character frame being open... the first line of that function checks to see if the frame is visible.  if it's not open, not sure how it'd be visible
 

I'll keep my eye on it and post back if I see it again.
