what happened ?

Hi,

Sorry i searched everywhere and the real why and how i cant find.

why did blizzard kill OQ off and what exactly did they do to prevent OQ form working ?

Is it a deliberate targeting of OQ ?

Is it possible they change their mind or not at all ?

I and many others loved OQ and we hope maybe later there is a way to get it back, maybe blizzard gets enough complaints ?

Anyways thank you tiny and others it was great. Afraid it will be very hard to keep playing now without. (RBG are really impossible almost without oq)

Thanks for answering (and i really searched but couldnt find any good details )

thanks,.

Prior to patch 6.0.2 addons were able to send a friend request to another player with a note attached. With 6.0.2 that ability has been removed and you can no longer attach notes to friend requests. This note was extremely important for oQueue to function.

Why was the note removed? Nobody knows other than Blizzard. But I did see Lore tweet this yesterday: https://twitter.com/CM_Lore/status/522135491907317760

We'd love to see oQueue come back in the capacity that it previously existed as well. We would also like Blizzard to enable addon authors to access the group information displayed by the group finder, so that addons like oQueue, could help people group, without having to maintain a network in game. Blizzard could handle the network and addons would handle the user interface.

At the moment the group finder only shows 26 groups at one time. This limit would have to be lifted, or at least allow addon authors to request the entire list of groups, or at least a very large portion of them.

What about using an external tool to mantain the traffic and comunications?

The guys from TSM do something similar with a desktop application that updates your auction market on live. I think it writes directly to your wow files and your addon reads it.

Maybe I'm talking of something imposible, it's just to try to find a solution to fhis problem :)

Thanks anyway for all these years of joy!

Lua addons cannot communicate outside of the game, other than writing to a file that is saved when you logout, exit the game, or manually reload the UI. TSM probably uses that method, and therefore won't update until the file is written to.

Real time communications is not possible.

"Prior to patch 6.0.2 addons were able to send a friend request to another player with a note attached"

Why can't you add a feature to do this manually?

e,g, "find mesh" and there are a few battle.net tags? or make a database with e.g. scorekeeper?

you can still communicte through the battle.net wispers, or can´t?

We had something that would get data out of the game in real time without writing to a file. Getting data back into the game, that's pretty much impossible as far as we can tell without accessing memory directly. And thats the biggest of "No No's" when it comes to interacting with the game.

Why can't you add a feature to do this manually?

There are only certain things you can do programmatically. We can send you a friend request via an addon. But, we are not able to send you a message like "hey its bob", or a big jumbled mess of data. Its just not possible. Blizzard removed the ability for addons to add a note to the friend request. If the function does allow you to add a note, then you just can't do it.

Communicating through whispers and realm chat is still possible. Thats how the new 2.1.1 version supports "connected realms", but this requires the 2 people to already be friends, or on the same realm.

Biggest advantage to oQueue was you didn't need to know the other person first to communicate with them.

Really?

Other than combat logs, I can't think of much else in WoW that is exported in real time. Is such a thing still possible, and if so, what exactly is it?

what exactly is it?

Ide love to spill the beans, but TBH its not my secret sauce so it wouldn't be my place to say.

Time to break out Process Monitor by Sysinternals ;).

yeah but if you have already a friend you can sent a message like it. so the mission is to find a way how you get a few friends only for OQ and communicate with them. the easiest way is manual with a database on your homepage or sth like that. You can grow you mesh in your connected realm like atm. But you need some ppl to grow this connected realm mesh to another connected realm mesh. So 2 way mesh. First within the oqgeneral channel at your connected realm, than throug manually added battle net friends? i dont know if it possible to sent your known meshes in your connected realm to a "scorekeeper" in another connected realm mesh. you know what i mean?
